Summer is our favorite season at Glendale farms! Hundreds of children have spent their summers with us learning how to ride, groom, tack, feed, and care for a horse or pony for an entire week. The activity filled campsessions run Monday to Friday from 9am-3pm over the course of the summer. At the beginning of the week our riders are matched with a horse or pony to care for, ride and bond with. They ride for a minimum of 3 hours everyday to ensure that our potential equine professionals can gain basic riding skills, or for the advanced rider new riding skills in both English and Western disciplines. We have 2 outdoor grass rings and our indoor riding ring that allows riding in all weather conditions. To ensure safety and maximum learning opportunities, riders are divided into groups based on age and riding ability. On Wednesdays riders are taken on an afternoon trail ride to prepare them for a full day session on Thursday that includes a stop at the Sugar Shack for lunch!!! On Thursday night campers are welcome to come back for an old fashioned western cookout with an optional sleep out. The week finishes up with a horse show on Friday where parents, friends, and family are encouraged to come and share their support. Riders dress up theirhorses and ponies and compete in a series of mounted games and classes to earn ribbons. The spectators are entitled to view an elaborate horse show and cheer on their friends as they compete to win their ribbon! Refreshments and snacks will be served. Youth ages 6-16 are encouraged to attend, learn and have a blast!
